Directed by Joe Wright and based on the novel by Ian McEwan, this romantic drama begins in 1930s England when a young girl unfairly accuses her older sister’s lover of a crime he didn’t commit. The film chronicles the effects of this accusation over the course of the next few decades. The cast features James McAvoy, Keira Knightley, Saoirse Ronan and Vanessa Redgrave.

The film won the award for Best Original Score and received nominations for Best Picture, Best Writing, Best Cinematography, Art Direction, Costume Design, and Saoirse Ronan for Best Supporting Actress from the 2008 Academy Awards. The film won Best Picture along with Best Original Score from the 2008 Golden Globes.
