About
Directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi (Drive My Car) and co-written with Léa Le Dimna, this French-language drama follows the whirlwind friendship between Marie-Lou, the director of a nursing home practicing a radical system of care called “Humanitude,” and Mari, a Japanese theater director suffering from terminal cancer. This newfound bond deepens their commitment to providing dignity to the aging and dying. The film stars Virginie Efira and Tao Okamoto, who both won awards for Best Actress at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. Director Ryusuke Hamaguchi was nominated for the Palme d’Or.
